I believe that the gender of those that an infant associates with largely affects their attachment and well being later in life. That is, if they mainly associate with those of the opposite gender and have much less or no contact with those of the same gender, they may later feel out of place in how they eventually develop differently than those around them, or may take on aspects of the opposite gender within their culture, which will likely cause them to seem strange within their culture. Otherwise, if they have a strong relation with someone of the same gender in their early development, they will have a much stronger sense of identity and secure attachment to their parents.

i am under the impression that different attachment styles form in children and later on in life regardless of the gender interactions that one recieves. I feel like the parent child interaction is much more a determining factor.
