A possible alternative explanation might be that children get a variety of toys and other devices to play with at home, other people at home like siblings, the environment ex. Is it a quiet or violent environment, presence of a pet. Divorces  and other fights that a child may not understand play a role in secure attachments. I believe also that the presence of the parent is important, i was closer to my mom throughout my childhood as she was always around while my dad used to work. However as i grew up that changed cause i started to realize that my dad had to go to work to earn and i started to respect him and then eventually became equally close to him.
