I disagree with Gleitman's view of humans as machines because, if we were suppose to be like machines, then we would be much more efficient in our results. Even with ultimate focus, we still fail to be as efficient as machine because our reaction times changes almost every time. With machines, they would have had a perfect reaction time every time.
I completely agree. My standard times and my times when focused were both very varied . A machine would be programmed to have calculated results--it would be expected to perform the same way every time it is used. Human behavior is just too unpredictable to be compared to the behavior of machines.
I agree with both of the two statements above. When I plotted my graph, fluctuations occurs very often. My reaction time varies in all of the four tests. If humans were like machines as discussed in chapter two, the result would show more of a systematic pattern. The reaction time would get better and better and will show a perfect trend in the plotted graph.
