When I was about 6, my house was robbed during the Thanksgiving week. Our family had dinner with my dad's family and we came back home at late night. Our house was in a mess and my mom found that her safe was gone. She called the police and the police came to my house but my mom was still scared. I was also dumbfounded and scared even to sleep in that house. I think I remember this memory because it was a shock to me and we decided to move out of that city since that incident. Also, my family sometimes talked about the incident when I got older.

This is a very explicit event that would be very scary for a child. I can definitely see why you remembered it so vividly regardless of whether it was talked about as you got older. Children seem to remember things that scare them over a long period of time.
