Extraordinary Event: My younger brother at the time was about 1, and I remember a time when somehow, my brother crawled near a table that was leaning sideways against a wall. The table was about to fall on top of him, and I stood there, holding the big table up on my back until my parents came home from their grocery shopping after about 20 minutes. By that time, my younger brother had fallen asleep on the spot as I stood there, struggling.
Personality / Identity Same?
My personality has largely remained the same. I still care for my family members very much, and would not be afraid to throw myself in harm's way in order to protect my loved ones.
Other Interesting Information
The fact that my brother had fallen asleep underneath me? Why didn't he crawl away from danger so I could put the table down?
I think this speaks a lot to not only your devotion to your family, but to the security felt within your family. Your brother probably had no fear of the table initially, and knowing you would not let him get hurt, felt perfectly comfortable falling asleep under what was in reality very unsafe. I would be interested in knowing whether you really were there for 20 minutes struggling, or if it was your age leading you to feel like it was that long because in reality your concept of time was not fully developed.
I think it's pretty interesting how many of these earliest memories involve siblings. I too have a deep love for my family, and most of my memories from childhood revolve around our interactions. I wonder if only children are able to recall events from their childhood as vividly as those born into larger families
