My earliest memory that is short of clear to me was trying to learn how to ride a bike with my dad. I think I was about 4 or 5 years old then. It was at my grandparent's house because we were living there because we were in the middle of a move. I remember wearing my teenage mutant ninja turtles helmet and my dad giving me a push from the top of the driveway and me falling down on the driveway a good amount of times. But the most vivid part of the memory was getting control of the bike for the first time and riding down the driveway without falling for the first time.
I think that my identity has changed a bit over the past 14 or so years. Although, I think I am sort of that same headstrong little kid who kept getting up after he kept falling and falling.
It makes sense that your first memory is riding a bike because that is a very pivotal moment for a kid. I can relate to this memory because my earliest memory took place with a parent around the time of a move as well..
While not as momentous as learning to ride a bike, my memory, too, involved a family member. It could be possible that our earliest memories relate to social interactions because at that age we were still learning how to communicate and understand others.
