There are definitely other variables that may influence a person's well being later in life other than the kind of attachment he/she shared with his/her primary care giver early in his/her life. One variable could be that a person had a secure relationship with his mother early in his life, but then for some reason (could be a death or divorce), that person became absent in the person's life. This could have serious negative effects on him because the person who he used to associate with "safety" and "contentment" is now completely absent in his life. This could cause him to feel very insecure and at times, unsafe and unwanted.
