I agree that the childs attachment pattern can predict things later in the childs life and that there is an association between the two things.  However, I do not believe that this is the only explanation.  I think the environment that the child grew up in and their experiences throughout their life has a heavy influence on how a child is later in life.  The childs attachment pattern does not necessarily guarantee the well-being of the child later in life.

I totally agree with you that there exists a definite association but no causation.There are too many other factors that could affect the childs attachment style and so many other factors that can change the infants attachment style.For example, I noted the effect of trauma on attachment styles.Although a child may have had a secure attachment style as an infant, with a certain traumatic event (i.e. divorce, death of parent, abuse), the child may end up having an avoidant or anxious/ambivalent style that decreases well-being.
