It's a very hot summer day, and everyone in the dream is complaining about the humidity. To escape the heat, the people camp out in an air conditioned room and hope that the heat wave will disappear. As the group talks, they notice ants creeping out from the cracks between the walls and start filling the room with six-legged bodies. The people begin to leave, but someone notices that the ants are congregating around a cookie (that he never saw previously) before they begin to devour it. The ants do not leave when the cookie is gone, however.

The hot summer day is most likely connected to the heat and humidity that we've been having in Pittsburgh. And retreating to an air conditioned room seems like a pretty natural thing to do. Was it hot in your room? As for the ants, they're the reason that I'm interpreting your dream. I dreamt about them too! (My ants were large and man-eating though.) Ants could signify many things. Ideas of efficiency, conformity, annoyance, or perseverance could be associated with characteristics typical of the insect. Your ants have one goal in mind, however: the cookie. They neither attack the group or alter their course, and quickly "devour their goal. Perhaps this can be related to your life. You might have a goal in mind (the cookie), and you will achieve that goal with ease (devouring the cookie). But once the goal is reached (the cookie is eaten), you remain where you are, with nothing to show for your achievement. You were so eager to reach your goal that you did not appreciate the process that it took to do so.
