Earliest Memory Lab

My earliest memory was when I was 3 years old and lived in Korea. I was playing in the playground outside my apartment building. Then I wanted to go back home, so I went to the elevator, and I went up to my house. I think I remembered this because I was alone? However, I dont think that I actually remembered this memory myself. I think that I feel like it is my memory because Ive heard this story from my mother so many times. The memory that I feel like I actually remember would be memories from when I was at least 4 years old. As a result, Im not quite sure if that memory of me is myself. I think it is me, but I cannot say with absolute certainty that it is me. I would do the same today, as in I would take the elevator to get home.

It is interesting that you think your memory was planted from information you heard. I read about an example in the book where people were shown pictures of an event (hot air balloon) and recalled that it happened even though it never did. It is quite possible the memory isn't yours because your logic probably supersedes uncertain memory.
