Earliest Memory

In my earliest memory, it was my birthday and I was turning three years old.  My parents took me out to this Chinese restaurant to celebrate with my cousins and their parents.  i don't remember any of the details about dinner, but afterwords I had a cake and blew out the candles. They then gave me presents.

This was probably memorable because it was my birthday so there are strong happy emotions associated with it.

I think that my personality and identity is different from myself in this time period.  At the time, I had not yet had that many life experiences so because of that, I am a different person now than I was then.

This is similar to my earliest memory in that our earliest memories are both around the age of 3 and it's of our birthdays. It is also interesting how the cake was the center of both of our memories.
