The earliest memory I remember is from when I was about 3 or 4. I remember running around my house in my underwear with a blanket for a cape. I was also watching sesame street at the time. I have an aspect of my personality that is still pretty similar to that. It should also probably be noted that this event was video taped so I saw it a few years after it happened.
I think it is noteworthy that this memory was video recorded as this could potentially have acted as some sort of tool of reinforcement in your memory.
It's pretty amazing that you can remember so far back into your childhood. By the looks of your description, it seems you only have chunks or parts of that memory pieced together, which just shows that an early memory cannot be completely remembered because it was so long ago. Though it is interesting that you have this event video-taped. I agree with the above post that the recording definitely acts as a sort of reinforcement in your memory since reviewing past events will refresh the remembrance of an early memory.
My earliest memories as I remember them are definitely in chunks and pieces. I can never remember them in one continuous flow of action, which is pretty interesting to note.
I agree with the above posts as well. I think the video recording is very important here. I think you may remember some portion of this memory but I think a large portion of the memory is recreated from watching the video at different stages of your life. This may not be the case but I think its very likely.
I tink that I agree with all the other posters. You may have remembered this particular instance, but I think that it's more likely that you got the memory from watching the video.
