Attachment Lab

I think it is important not to overlook possible genetic or environmental factors that could alter a child's attachment style.  For example, there could possibly be a correlation between genetics and the environment that lead children to live more actively or participate in sports.  These children might be more outgoing as well, and I think the environment that children grow up in influences this greatly.  A child's genetics could change as one grows up, and the degree to which this change takes place might also impact one's attachment style.

While that is a good theory to work on, it doesn't make complete sense to me. I think I understand when you try to explain that environmental factors impact the development: like how a child's interaction with people around him/her might make him/her more confident or more anxious. The part that doesn't really fit in with the rest is that a child's genetics can change his/her behaviour. Genetics are something we are born with and they can't change. Also, I am not positive, but I don't think genetics have been directly linked to emotions just yet.

I agree, genetic influence would probably not be a factor, but the environment a child is placed in definitely has an impact on their developing personality and their emotional attachment to their home and their mothers.
