I think a major factor is the economic status of the child's family. A family that has to work 3+ jobs just to get by with low wages and poor hours is not going to create an enviornment conducive to healthy development. On the other hand, if a family is more well off, a child will form a close relationship with his or her parents and perhaps be more emotionally aware and sensitive than the former child.
I agree that financial status plays a role in how a child develops, but I think a portion of the influence of economic status on development is the stress of the environment. When a family is strained constantly, it causes tension and negative feelings that may hinder positive emotional development. A family that doesn't have to worry about money can focus more on other aspects of life than worrying about paying bills.
