I think one of the largest determinants of a child's attachment style relies upon the attachment styles and relationships of other family members they witness growing up. Affection shown between parents, between parents and other siblings, and between parents and grandparents is easily viewed and judged by a child growing up. It is the level of affection and closeness that the child sees around them that influences what they deem appropriate affection and attachment styles. I think this is why for example in so many Italian families, the hugging and the kissing and the affection that is expected is passed down and immediately picked up on by children. The attachment style they adopt as children directly influences how they act later in life in relationships with significant others or their own children some day.
