I feel there is a clear connection between early attachment and later adjustment. Babies that are raised with secure attachment are able to function independently, but are still hugely ecstatic in the presence of their parents. Later on, this can translate into independent adults that still love their parents. In contrast, those that show anxious/resistant attachment are less independent as babies in the absence of their parents. This can translate into adults that cannot function efficiently in the real world, when they do not have their parents for consultation. Finally, babies that are anxious/avoidant grow with little appreciation for their parents. As adults, these babies may tend to have little respect for superiors, no matter how independent they are.
