Dream Lab - this one is weird

Sorry this is on here twice, I guess I wasn't supposed to create a user name.

Pen name: kshatzer

Yeah, I don't know why my dreams are so weird. Here goes.

So I was in South Oakland near the old abandoned gas station on Forbes and across boundary street. Only the gas station was some sort of thrift store. I was in the market for a new TV for my apartment and the thrift store had one advertised that was exactly what I wanted so I went in. A cute girl started talking to me and showing me the available TV's. There was a big selection of really old TVs, one of which was identical to the TV my grandparents used to have. They didn't have the one in the window though. There was also a sweet old blue road bike that I really wanted.

After a while I started to get the feeling that this place was some sort of co-op or union. The people kept asking me question like, "Oh, are you a new member?" For some reason I kind of liked the idea of becoming a member of this place (don't ask me why). The cute girl then said something like, "If you like this place, check out what we did to the CVS." Now, logically there should not have been a CVS in this location, but I decided to go anyway because she was cute.

On my way up the steps to the CVS an unfamiliar college student came running out and three men caught him and started yelling at him and beating him for apparently no reason. THe three men looked just like the three men that I saaw in an article the day before about a CMU student that was mugged and used his iPhone's gps to catch his attackers.

I turned around and tried to get away but some men came out from the CVS and took me inside. Then some teenage girls started stomping me while I was on the ground. Soon the whole store joined in and I woke up.

I think there is clearly some tension about the muggings in the Oakland area lately.

As for the TV, there might be some tension about moving (back?) in to the Pittsburgh area after the summer. Perhaps a feeling of missing home or just a place where there is a strong feeling of comfort since the TV the student was immediately attracted to was one similar to the one his grandparents have.

The co-op or union might in some way tie into a feeling of a group or club (perhaps CMU's student body?) and feeling that perhaps the student would like to feel more accepted by his peers but is afraid that he/she is not good enough and could possibly be shunned in extreme ways by his peers.
