While doing the trials, although my reaction time improved overall, it didn't improve consistently. Actually, the reaction time fluctuated so much that in some trials the reaction time got much worse than the previous trial. If humans were like machines, then the reaction time wouldn't have been inconsistent, they would be efficient from the start and consistently stay that way. Therefore I think the lab shows that humans are essentially different from machines.

I agree with this. I saw a somewhat similar fluctuation in my trials. Your assertion is correct though, if we were similar to machines then there would be very little variation between trials.
