psych lab--ruler response


Based on the varying results, a human does not have the same results as a machine would. There was little improvement throughout the duration of the test, yet the reaction time went up and down for no apparent reason.

I also agree that humans are not like machines, especially after examining the results of this experiment. Because people are prone to human error, it is expected that our reaction times do not stay consistent but rather continue to have fluctuations throughout the many different trials. At the same time, there seems to be a slight similarity between humans and machines in that people tend to find a consistent pace while machines usually work at the same pace almost all the time. Although one may argue that machines too are not perfect and sometimes even divert from their usual rhythm, this diversion is usually very small and thus rather insignificant. However, there is usually a great fluctuation for humans.
