My Earliest Memory

Pen Name: LILA17

My earliest memory that I can recall is my performance in our schools yearly Winterfest talent show. Our third grade class decided to perform a song (I forget which song) as a band. We had our singers up front on stage, the dancers a little behind them, and I was part of the instrumental band on the other side of the singers and dancers. I was the guitar player, and I was given an air-guitar to play with. During rehearsals of our show, I would always make fun of my air-guitar and I remember that no matter what I did, I would make my friends laugh like there was no tomorrow. I always had the capability to come up with something new and funny. People who would make fun of me for doing something weird

1. Your appropriate age at your earliest memory.

My appropriate age at my earliest memory was 9 years old.

2.Were there extraordinary circumstances that make it particularly memorable?

This was my first experience as a performer on stage at my elementary school that I can remember. Also, the excitement I would feel when people laughed was very memorable, since it is the most Ive ever done (that I can remember) to make people laugh.

3.Is your personality or identity the same now as it was then?

Generally, yes. I feel that I am still continuous with that person I was in the third grade. I believe that I still am an open person who really likes to make people happy. I overcome emotions of depression, anger, etc very easily, not only because I can, but also because I want to. I still have the same mindset as I had in he third grade- only with a touch of maturity. Although I may not have figured this out at the age of nine, I believe that life is not worth living unless youre willing to live everyday as a new day with new expectations and new opportunities to become a better person.

Like LILA17, my earliest memory was also a performance. Except mine was not a musical performance, but a dance instead. Unlike LILA17, I was not the goofball kind of kid. I always wanted to do things according to the rules and took everything pretty seriously. I'm still like that most of the time. I agree that I still have the same mindset as I did when I had my first memorable experience and that I'm still continuous with the person that I was back then. I think people never completely change - there are always aspects of personality that stay with you as you mature throughout life, whether you realize it or not.
