earliest memory

When I was around the age of three or four there was a huge snow storm in New Jersey. When the storm ended my uncle went outside to clean his car and shovel the drive way while, inside, my mom layered me with miles of winter clothing: 3 or four pairs of socks, a long sleeved shirt, jacket, coat, gloves, etc. I dont remember how I got from the house to the driveway (because the snow went passed my knees, I dont think I walked to the driveway) but somehow I did. As my mom began to clean off her car, I walked away from her, down the driveway to where my uncle was dusting off the final packs of snow on the roof of his car. I heard behind me my mom say that Im going to lose my boots in the snow if I keep going but I didnt listen; instead I kept marching forward until, indeed, I lost my right boot; my foot pulled out of the boot and plunged right into the snow. Again, I dont recall how I got from the driveway, bootless, into the house but I do remember sitting down with my grandma as she pulled off my damp socks from my feet. I didnt go back outside after that.

I think I remember that particular day because of how extreme the weather was (or seemed to me at the time).Ive never experienced a snow day quite like that since that time.

Im the same person as my three year old self in the sense that I will go for what I want regardless of the consequences. However, through the years I have experienced and learned much so I cant be the same person as the three year old described above. I think the farthest I can go and still feel like me would be my junior year of high school. My sophomore year many ideals that I held changed.

This is very similar to my earliest memory. I, too, was in a natural disaster and remember my family members taking care of me. I, however, did listen to my parents and remained in the room until the situation was resolved.
