A largely important alternative to later adjustment for infants is parenthood. The behavior and attention paid by parents to the infant has a large effect on how the baby responds to the parent's behaviors, especially the mother's. If the mother spends a lot of time (not too much) playing with the baby, he or she could very well be securely attached to the mother. This could lead to a child's model of development for later life because he or she knows when to want or something and is willing to search for it but also know when to stop when the task is out of his or her control. The mother's should be key in determining what kind of childhood an infant has and how much care she puts into the child raising effort.
