There are alternative explanations that influence both the IV and DV. Although there may be a correlation, there is not a direct relationship between secure attachment and higher well-being. There are other factors, which will influence their well-being, such as their decisions during their adolescent years.
I agree that certain decisions that a person makes in their adolescent years can affect their well-being later in life. For instance, if the person decided to abuse drugs, then they would suffer from the harmful effects later in life. Sometimes people are drawn to making bad decisions because they lack a certain secure relationship with others (whether it be their caregivers, other members of their family, or even their peers). People like to have a sense of belonging and safety, and if they don't have that, sometimes it leads them to make unwise decisions.
