Other than attachment there are other variables that can affect later adjucstment. Many of these variables cannot be changed or expected. By this, I mean that a variable that cannot be changed but can affect adjustment is race. And related to this is experiences that cannot quite be expected such as violence related to race. This is only one example though. There are so many other factors that can be involved from the person making bad decisions that lead them down the wrong road to the loss of someone that they depended on.
