Developmental Lab

Although I do believe that one's attachment to a primary care-giver early on in life directly correlates to ones well-being later in life, it is not the only factor that affects one's future life quality. In addition to the type of attachment between a mother and a baby during the first stage of one's life, the environment one is exposed to and one's experiences throughout childhood, adolescents, and adulthood both play a very significant role in determining the well-being of an individual. For example, some experiences that may negatively influence one's well-being in the future may be a death of a close loved one, a witness of a very violent crime, or divorced parents. Other examples that may positively influence one's future well-being may be close relationships with friends, living in a nice house with several resources, and living in a positive family oriented environment. These examples have nothing to do with the connection between a mother and her baby, yet they will still influence one's well-being and outlook later on in life.

Pen name: Why is it dark already?

I agree. However, I also would like to add that they way these events can shape a child may also be correlated with how a child deals with such circumstances. Some children naturally have a positive outlook, and when bad things happen, they try to not let those events affect them too much. Others can have a very negative outlook, they may not appreciate having a nice house with several resources, they could be depressed anyway, and when bad experiences happen to these children it could be extremely detrimental.

i agree with both of you. different experiences can affect the course of life but childhood relationship with their parents can also affect how he handles difficult situations. ALthough two person go through same experience, their childhood relationship can change how they perceive the experience. but i do agree with the idea that there isn't only one factor that determines the lifestyles. Environment and experiences are also huge variables that play a major role in shaping the person.
