Attachment and Later adjustment

The correlation between early attachment and later attachment might also stem from the fact that those classified as "secure" make up 60% of children from 'healthy middle class families'. It is easy for them to find people similar to themselves who share a common background/upbringing. Their early tendency to be more expressive and attached allows them to come together. It could be that because they sense they are a majority they are at ease and much less stressed. They can continue to practice and foster healthy relationships simply because of the opportunity afforded to them. When considering stereotypical high school groups one can make the argument that it is not always the 'leaders'  and 'popular' kids who are making the most healthy relationships. Minority groups (like the stereotypical nerd, goth, or ethnic minority groups) often form incredibly strong and healthy relationships but are more stressed because they are often ostracized by a slightly dissimilar majority.
