I believe that a possible alternative explanation to this should include the child's environment and the way that these attachments are formed. For instance, children with diorced parents tend to grow up in separate homes. Because of this, the child may develop different expectations for future relationships.

I agree with this claim.
As I have mentioned in my own post, life contains possibilities of unforeseen circumstances that may alter a child's process of development significantly.

Another example of such instances would be a parent who is a drug-addict.
A child growing up in such an environment would share a drastically different perspective than what is accepted as regular.
