Reading #1

1.What are the five different levels of phase two? Describe each of them.

2.According to phase three, what should the different activities for these software be based on? And describe each of the multiple levels. (eg. : Double Trouble, Dinosaur Shop, etc.)

3.What are some of the questions that need to be answered in phase 5? What is the most effective strategy following an incorrect answer?

4. What do you think are the pros and cons of using mathematical software and programs?

Reading #2

1. What foundational tasks show evidence of the early achievement gap between children from low-income families and their peers? What do these findings highlight the importance of? Why do you think this early achievement gap is?

2. What are some definitions of number sense and what is the definition Siegler and Booth used to address the problem of the vast amount of differing definitions?

3. What experiences or activities make children first begin to represent numerals as increasing linearly? What way of representing numbers do children change from and how does this change influence the childs mathematical abilities?

4. What were the findings from An Initial Demonstration, from  Generality Over Time, Tasks, and Types of Knowledge, and Board Game Play in the Everyday Environment? Describe all three of these sections and the way the board games were played?

5. What were the conclusions regarding the linear number board game and what does playing this game improve?
