Dreams

annonymous

Last night I had a dream that I was sitting where the ECE building is on the CMU campus but it was missing and instead there were a bunch of tables and chairs like Starbucks always have outside of their stores.  I was talking with a girl who I dont recognize.  While we were talking it began to thunder and I made some comment about this.  There was no rain however.  I believe the reason for this is that, when I woke up from the dream, I realized that it was actually raining and thundering outside.  I dont remember much of the conversation.  At the end of the conversation I mentioned in what seemed like a casual way that I had to write a dream journal for my introduction to psychology class and almost immediately thereafter I realized I was in a dream.  I got very excited because I remember a friend of mine from high school who was at the time trying to achieve lucid dreaming telling me that if you can realize that you are dreaming while you are still dreaming, you can harness the full depth of your brains creative capacities.  She said you can basically go anywhere and do anything with your brains creativity.  Sadly this did not happen for me.  I just woke up.  I think the realization that I was dreaming meant that I had to be asleep and once I realized I was asleep it was hard to stay that way.  As I was sitting on my bed waking up I reflected on my dream because someone told me yesterday that the best way to remember a dream is to take mental note of it immediately as soon as you wake up before you even move.  I then tried very hard to go back to sleep without any luck.
