In this dream I am driving down a street towards the mall in my hometown. I am driving a mini cooper in a seemingly normal traffic situation when all of a sudden my mini cooper grows monster truck wheels and the traffic has switched so even though I'm driving correctly, I am driving against traffic. Despite the circumstances, I manage to not hit any other cars due to the fact that they all swerved out of my way.
I think this dream translates into the power you now feel that you are at college and no longer at home where your parents are still holding your hand in life. The mini cooper could represent how small you felt and how little control you had over your life while still in high school. The car transforming into a monster truck in the middle of your driving shows you transforming into a college student, moving on to something bigger and better. Maybe you didn't hit any of the other cars as you were driving means that the transition is going smoothly from your old life to your new one here in college, no speed bumps in both your dream and real life. Just a thought of course!
I think this dream relates to how you feel different in a new situation at college vs home. When you are at home, you presumably had a routine: you are driving in what you describe as a "normal" situation, whatever that may be, toward your familiar mall in your familiar hometown. Suddenly, in real life, you are not in your hometown anymore (I assume). Everything is super chaotic as you try to adjust to a new routine that is very unfamiliar. Although it may seem like this new life is crazy and maybe difficult to handle (your mini cooper grew giant wheels and you're driving against traffic), you realize that you are still in control and you are doing just fine (you're not hitting any cars; they all swerve out of your way).
I think this dream has to do with being afraid of not being in control. In a seemingly simple setting, driving in a car on the right side of the road, you are soon presented with a situation you can't control with your driving a massive car on the wrong side of the road. I think you are afraid of something going wrong in a situation you cannot control and hope for the best. Luckily you are unharmed and prevail through this horrifying out-of-control situation and I just think that maybe the situation you are in or maybe the situations you get into aren't as bad and scary as think.

Driving against the flow of traffic is a risky endeavor, yet you believe you are safe because of the other drivers avoiding you.
