Dream Lab

I often have long, epic dreams in which I run away from natural disasters such as hurricanes and floods, or from monstrous creatures or machines that come after me and other people. Sometimes both happen at the same time.

In a recent dream, I was at a huge shopping mall with my high school friends. Suddenly, massive waves of water started coming inside the building and soon the whole building was flooded. I was separated from my friends, and I could see gigantic crocodiles coming inside the building. For some reason I was able to stay underwater as long as I wanted without breathing, so I kept running (swimming) away from the crocodiles until I woke up, while other people were being killed.

I've had dreams like this before. Usually it's because I'm anxious about something, though watching disaster movies sometimes contributes. It might also have something to do with all the newness of coming to college--the flood here being a flood of new places, classes, people, and information with which your high school friends are unable to keep up with at the moment. No worries, though... once you get settled into the college routine and can figure out how to keep up with your high school friends any anxiety about that sort of thing will go away. Epic natural disaster dreams can be a lot of fun in the right circumstances though.
