Earliest Memory Lab

My earliest memory is me being in my crib during the night and for some reason I was awake and wanted my mom.  I started calling out "Mom" kind of softly because I didn't want to wake everyone else up, but slowly I started getting louder. No one responded so I held onto the edge of my crib and starting jumping up and down to see if they would wake up from the noise.  When no one responded I just laid back down and went to sleep.  I'd have to say I was probably 2 or 3 years old.  I'm hoping this memory is true because it's pretty vivid in my mind.  I'm not really sure why I remember this (assuming I'm not making it up), but I remember a lot of insignificant details about my life while I completely forget important things so this isn't unusual.  I think this person is like me.  I still tend to act like I'm around the age of 4 so I probably haven't changed much. Though I hope now that I'd be smart enough to just get myself out of the crib.

I think that it is interesting that your earliest memory is something that seems insignificant because compared to my own, I remembered something that I know was recurrent and significant to my childhood. It could be possible that this memory you describe is actually significant to you for some reason but you may not be able to obtain the reason from your long term memory. Consider trying to retrieve the significance of this memory!

I'm definitely with you on the whole "am I making this up?" deal. I have a few really vivid memories and have not idea whether or not they are made up. Also I think that maybe if you can see yourself in the memory that may be a reason for its invalidity.

This reminds me of my own dream because at the time I thought my dream was very insignificant until I discovered why it was significant, but my dream pretty much dealt with me sleeping as well.  Very interesting!
