Earliest Memory Lab

I remember the birthday party my parents threw for me and my brother when we were turning 3.  It was prince and princess themed and the entire backyard and porch were decorated.  We made shiny gold crowns out of paper and my mom baked us a cake shaped like a castle.  I remember the cake having black licorice on it, which I refused to eat. I know everyone had cake at a really long table set up in my dining room, but I don't remember any of the kids that attended the party.

I think it was particularly memorable because it was an exciting day (birthday) rather than just an ordinary day.

I believe that I have many of the same personality traits now that I did then, but that the experiences between now and then have definitely influenced my perception of the world and other people

I think this is a pretty special event so it makes sense why you remembered it. You remembered things from a very young age. I also do remember my birthday parties although that was not my first memory. Also, it seems like you are a twin. I am too...but thats not really related to memory

It certainly makes sense that you remember this because this is a special event. The fact that the cake was a castle (something you don't see every day) only further helped embed this event into your memory.
