Earliest Memory Lab

Thomas Li (made my own account since I forget the info for the intro102 acc)

Section D - Julie E.

Age 4

My earliest memory that stands out vividly in my mind was when I fell off my bicycle and broke my arm. I lived at the top of a slope and I had biked down the hill and hit a ditch, which flung me headfirst into a bush. I remember bringing the bike back up the hill by myself with a broken arm before finding my dad in the backyard. I believe my personality had many similarities back then as it does now. The reason I had gone biking in the first place was because I was following my brother, who was biking off somwhere. I still hold this respect for my brother and often follow in his footsteps with activities, such as track and field and debate. One thing that may have made this memory particularly memorable is the 'traumatic' aspect of it. The pain involved with breaking my arm surely left a lasting mark. Additionally, my dad would often tell me this story years down the line, which helped keep it fresh in my mind.

Both your memory and mine are from a traumatic experience. We both remembered things that weren't trivial or happy. I remembered getting lost at a playground. Despite the fact that i wasn't injured in any way, it's interesting that we both remember events that made us scared versus ones that were happy.
