Income and the environment a child grow up in is an important factor in the child's future well being. If the child is from a low income family, he will most likely grown up in a more negative environment than one who is from a high income family. Since the child from the low income family is not as happy and does not enjoy his life as much, he grows up to have a lower well-being than the individual from the high income family.

While this claim is true, I also think it is important to note that children who come from a less economically advantageous home are not necessarily unhappy. I would also note that families with a low income are often under stress or have other issues that lead to a less loving relationship.

Income would have a direct effect on the environment a child would grow up in but moral and ethical development is not bought. I believe that development goes deeper than economics.

I think that income is indeed a factor of how one grows up as well as the ultimate future well being of a particular child. It is not that children who are poorer are necessarily unhappy, but I could see how there would be a different personality formation correlation associated with income, e.g. more aggressive/less agressive personalities depending on income.

I agree with this post. I was reading another book and it was talking about this. Growing up in a wealthy community provides people with opportunities that less wealthy communities do not have. These can really affect how people grow up and how good their well-being is.
