I think that large factors that can influence a child's temperament could be socioeconomic status and parenting styles.

 

Children with a single parent or negligent parents are probably more likely to not be as well adjusted as children with two, supportive parents.

 

Socioeconomic status could also provide less material needs and less time with the parent(s) (they may have to work multiple jobs).
