A variable that can affect later life would be the community that a child grows up in. For example, a community with a strong church influence and strong social awareness might cause a child to grow into a strongly religious missionary. On the other extreme, a child that grows up, say, in Stalingrad or Vietnam during their respectively horrific wars, would grow up to have completely different priorities and could easily develop antisocial behavior and extreme anxiety that could result in homicidal rages.
