Attachment Lab

Numerous factors in childhood can affect the type of attachment between mother and child, and hence the well-being of the child in later years. One particular factor could be the environment in which the child was brought up in. A loving, caring environment in which the mother is dedicated to caring for her child, but also allows for the child's independence would leave to a secure attachment. On the other hand, rearing the child with no independence could actually lead to anxious/resistant attachment since the child has complete dependence on his or her mother. These different attachments can also lead to contrasting well-beings in the future. A child who was brought up in a caring, but independent environment is securely attached, and in the future will be able to go out into the real world independently and be more confident in him or herself. Conversely, a child brought up with complete dependence on his or more mother, leading to anxious/resistant attachment, could cause the child to later be anti-social and unable to go out into the real world to be independent.
