I think one variable that has not beeen considered is the role that other siblings play in shaping the development of eachother. Having a good relationship or a bad one with a sibling can shape a lot of developmental traits; some positive and some negative. Also the father figure is another quintessential role in childhood development that has been gravely overlooked with the games between mother and child.
