I think a variable that may not have been explored is the setting in which the engagement takes place. If some of the kids were exposed to these games in a chaotic setting their reaction would be skewed rather than someone who was exposed to these in a quiet living room. I'm sure that the environment and tone of the mother have huge impacts on the outcome. Overall, I think the time the mother can devote to the games, if she seems rushed and uninterested, her tone, attire, and setting all play big roles in the outcome.
